Born and raised on the Texas Gulf Coast, Rachel Blume was exposed to a myriad of cultures and experiences. She developed an interest in storytelling, monsters, and place-based fiction early in her life but it was the inability to see herself in popular fiction that took her to the Alaskan Interior to pursue her MFA. She has published in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and academic spaces. Currently, she is pursuing a masters in education and teaching at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
